Diet and LifestyleMost people who have tried any kind of diet would not believe that a diet could involve eating as much as a person wants while still allowing weight loss. This type of diet is what Todd Easton, Ph.D. writes about in The When Diet. Using his mathematics background, Easton analyzed when weight gain happened. Easton also used this analysis on exercise. A general definition of diet would be a selection or a limitation on the amount a person eats for reducing weight. Todd Easton writes that a diet should not alter a person’s lifestyle. Easton also says a diet should meet six criteria. A diet must help people lose weight and should not eliminate certain foods. Conversely, a diet should not force people to eat only certain foods, nor should it rely on drugs. A diet must be simple and easy to implement and should minimize disruption to a person’s life. Lifestyle is the habits, attitudes, tastes, moral standards, economic level that together constitute the mode of living of an individual. Because Easton writes that a diet should minimize disruption to a person’s life, lifestyle is an integral part of any diet. The When Diet consists of six simple pieces. All six are fairly commonsense. Many have been told to people for years. The first piece to the When Diet is to eat breakfast. The next piece is to not skip daytime meals or snacks. Eat a low calorie dinner of final meal five hours before going to sleep. Do not consume food after the final meal and drink only water after that meal. Exercise after the final meal. The When Lifestyle involves adapting the concepts of When to Eat and When to Exercise. To maintain a weight loss, a person must either eat the last meal five hours before sleep or must exercise after the final meal. In addition to adapting one of these two premises, a person must eat breakfast and not skip meals. A person must perform half of the When Diet. A person must also establish a ten pound weight range. If he finds himself at or above the upper end of the range, the person should go back on the When Diet. |
